Artist Profile - Levela

Levela's musical influences all began back in 1998 when he was only 10 years old and was sneaking into his older brother's room to play with his decks. Levela Started off Mixing UK Garage and as the sound of UKG became more bassline heavy, he moved his interests towards drum'n'bass. After several years of collecting records, Levela became interested in how the tracks were actualy made, so his mother took him to Sounds Expo 2002 in which the supporting mum brought him a copy of Ejay. Levela spent hours and hours in front of his PC trying to perfect the sound he was looking for before trying his hand at Fruity Loops. As the years rolled on and his productions were sounding more and more professional, Levela was getting quite a name for himself in his home town of Crawley, and so DJ bookings picked up, and other artists became interested in his work. Then, at 17 years old, Levela wanted to get his tracks out to a wider audience, so he sent his productions to various different labels in hope for a record deal. Soon after this, DJ Phantasy of Easy Records got in touch and explained that there is a bright future for young Levela with the help from the right people. DJ Phantasy became like a mentor to Levela, Giving him production tips and guiding him into the drum'n'bass scene by setting up collaborations with the likes of MC Skibadee and MC Funsta. Even Though there are several Levela tracks that Phantasy has got lined up to be released on Easy, other labels including Radical Beats, Second City Records and Ruff DnB have all got his tracks in the pipeline for release. Levela is Monthly resident at Devotion (Brighton) and plays weekly on radio stations, where he showcases his tracks to as many people as he can. Working a full time job, being a devoted father to his daughter and aswell as his music, Levela's schedule is always full.
