Artist Profile - Dual Process

Old skool junglist DJ Java and even older skool DJ Ben J (aka Bassboxben) are not newcomers. Many years of underground experience between them has ensured that the product that is now ready to unleash is in the heavyweight division. DJ Java: Raised on Jungle, this laid back guy has never wavered from the dnb cause. Smashing up sets at clubs, raves and most notably on London's Origin FM as part of the "Smashment Crew", Java was already known by many as a top class dj before starting down the production road. Being so close to the dnb action Java decided it was time to start his own fire and he chose an Akai s3000 to help him heat things up. Time passed, and his knowledge increased, the studio turned digital, and after leaving radio to concentrate on production some digital downloads hit the web on "strictly digital". More recently, a collaboration piece hit vinyl in the shape of "Articulated Movement - The Triangle/Black Mystery" on Formation Records (Check your shops!). While solo projects are always on the go Java and Ben J decided that teamwork and some idea sharing may prove fruitful. The result? A new kind of toxic sound fruit that's not only tasty but also causes severe convulsions!! DJ Ben J aka Bassboxben: Day one veteran Ben J has been there, seen it, spilt beans on the t-shirt. Witness to pretty much every kind of dnb event over the years, able to reminisce about, and play the selection from, most club nights and raves from Elevation to Progression Sessions to Metalheadz Sunday Sessions. Seeing the future of production would lie with the humble pc (or mac), Ben J set about upgrading and learning until the software and hardware caught up enough to reproduce the sonic mayhem in his head. Playing on the mighty Rude FM 88.2 from 98 till the end of 05, both up front and old skool sets, gave the masses a taste of the dj side, but a move at the start of 06 to Origin FM made the team up with Java a future certainty. More recently, owning Bassbox Records, prime time Origin FM, and more bookings gave Ben J the chance to prove he can tear out sets in any venue, any style. A meeting of studio minds was suggested, combining and evolving the sound of Ben J and Java's creations into a monster set to attack dancefloors worldwide!!
